The Dropkick Murphys are from Quincy, MA, they aren’t Celtic anything. And they have definitely   always been recognized as a punk band. Celtic Rock sounds like something Riverdance would jam to.

They were decent back when they had McColgan on vocals, but have been pretty shitty ever since (1998 or so).

They play the bars around Arizona State University every other St. Paddy’s Day which is a testament to their current shittiness.
